6.8 million euros from EBRD for construction of first integrated waste recycling park in Romania

 The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development / EBRD / announced that it will fund with 6.8 million euros the Green Group, the first waste management and recycling park opened in Romania, according to a press release. The bank provides the capital investment, together with the South Eastern Europe Fund (SEEF), which contributes to the Green Group's capital with the amount of 16.7 million euros. The Green Group is a holding company, set up by Romcarbon SA, manufacturer of plastic / chemical products listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, in view of the management, operation and expansion of waste recycling services. The new park will include four companies dealing with collecting and recycling collection plastic waste, as well as electrical and electronics waste and fluorescent tubes. The project introduces for the first time in Romania, an extensive infrastructure nationally for collecting recyclable materials that will make the connection between the final consumer and the recycling company by means of some special automated machines tor taking over the waste from supermarkets in order to recover recyclable items, including plastic PET type packaging, electrical bulbs, batteries and glass packaging. EBRD investment represents the first capital transaction in the field of waste recycling in Romania, intended to sustain the Green Group strategy, to become the most important waste management and recycling park in Europe South-Eastern region. Since the beginning of its activity in Romania, the EBRD has provided over 5.4 billion euros to various economic sectors.
